Introducing Dr. Xueqin Lin
PhD, LPCC
Psychological Associate
Dr. Lin is a first-generation Chinese therapist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), and postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. She brings years of experience working in community clinics, public schools, and private practice, supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families through life’s challenges with compassion and care.
Dr. Lin approaches therapy through a trauma-informed and strength-based lens, honoring each client’s story, resilience, and cultural background. She believes healing happens in a safe, collaborative space where clients feel deeply understood. Drawing from evidence-based approaches such as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, EMDR, Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), she tailors each session to meet the unique needs and goals of the individual or family she is working with.
She specializes in supporting clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and cross-cultural or immigrant-related stressors. As someone who deeply values culturally responsive care, Dr. Lin is especially attuned to the experiences of diverse youth, families, and adults. Her work is guided not only by clinical expertise but also by empathy, curiosity, and respect.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Lin earned her Ph.D. in School Psychology from UC Berkeley and has taught graduate-level courses in advanced psychopathology. She is also an active researcher, with over 15 peer-reviewed publications focused on immigrant family–school partnerships, social-emotional learning, educator well-being, and bullying prevention. This academic foundation informs her practice, allowing her to integrate research with heartfelt, human-centered care.
At Mind Harbor, Dr. Lin provides services under the supervision of Dr. Jet Hermes. She offers therapy in both English and Mandarin, creating a comfortable space for bilingual clients and families.
Outside of work, Dr. Lin enjoys singing, exploring vocal techniques, listening to classical music, and spending meaningful time with loved ones.
