Introducing Dr. Derek Holiday

Psychological Associate

Derek Holiday, Ph.D., NCSP, is a school psychologist providing services under the supervision of Dr. Jet Hermes at Mind Harbor. He earned his Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley and is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. Dr. Holiday has extensive experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families through counseling, assessment, consultation, and intervention services across educational and community settings.

Dr. Holiday approaches therapy with warmth, curiosity, and a genuine belief in people's capacity for growth and change. He strives to create a collaborative, supportive environment where clients feel understood, respected, and empowered to navigate life's challenges. His style balances thoughtful exploration with practical strategies, helping clients build insight while developing skills they can use in everyday life.

His clinical interests include anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, autism, learning differences, giftedness, self-esteem, grief and loss, life transitions, parental and job burnout, and relationship challenges. He is particularly passionate about supporting individuals and families who have faced adversity, educational barriers, or limited access to mental health services. Drawing from cognitive-behavioral, acceptance-based, and other evidence-informed approaches, he tailors treatment to each client's unique strengths, goals, and experiences.

In addition to providing therapy, Dr. Holiday has extensive experience conducting psychological and psychoeducational evaluations and helping individuals better understand their cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and learning profiles. His background in assessment informs his therapeutic work and allows him to bring a developmental and holistic perspective to treatment.

Whether working with a child struggling in school, a parent navigating family stress, or an adult facing anxiety, depression, or major life transitions, Dr. Holiday seeks to foster a therapeutic relationship grounded in authenticity, compassion, and practical problem-solving.

Outside of work, Dr. Holiday enjoys literature, film, gaming, camping, and spending time with his pets.
